I love the purpose behind it - mapping the whole human history through the migrations of humans since our origin. So cool! The whole experience has been great, the packaging was simple yet thorough enough that I knew exactly what to do.
Such a cool product. This product was pretty cool. It took about 5 weeks to get my results. Their website is easy to use and they explain what your results mean. It was interesting to find out what region I'm from and what percent Neanderthal I am. I also found the Helix results interesting; they have an "Insights" section that tells you what your genes say regarding cilantro taste, resting heart rate, risk taking behavior, circadian rhythm and muscle composition.
In the future, I hope they can provide more specific details regarding which countries my DNA is linked to i. If you're curious about your ancestral DNA from up to , years ago, then this product is definitely for you! I am absolutely shocked at the 1 star reviews, or people claiming it's useless. This is no different than how ancestry, 23 and Me, etc perform their testing. The only difference from those sites is they have a higher sample poll to connect relatives.

If planning a summer trip, call to check at I steer clear of Geno's from July 1st through sometime in mid-October as it turns into a madhouse in that timeframe. I was just there today. Is there any way you can get the raw data from Geno2 without a FTDNA transfer and upload somewhere else to get access to more of your SNP's tests assuming the Geno2 next gen tests, as it states, over K markers? It is a little pricey and a bit of an overkill for me though.

If so, then maybe the Geno test is not the best fit for you. I think the reason the Y Elite test covers the amount it does is to attract consumers that want the complete test. FTDNA tries to cover what will be most useful to have some sort of balance between cost and benefit. I don't know if Y Elite is good, but there does not seem to be a lot of interest for that test compared to Big Y. So who knows? Only a test like Big Y can do that. You could wait for a sale, but I don't imagine there will be one any time soon. They will give you a haplogroup assignment that may differ from FTDNA since it will use your data to build new SNP branches if you happen to share that with at least another person.
Otherwise you have some private SNPs that could form future branches after someone else with them uploads their BAM file. Just take a look at the YFull tree. It gets an update every few weeks. Out of those, are considered reliable.
