Imagine entering a dark room and a web of lasers pops to life right in front of your eyes. They land on you and they are everywhere.
We spent one morning of our trip to AZ at Butterfly Wonderland. Our 3 kids 3 yr boy, 5 yr boy, 9 yr girl all enjoyed it. It was nice to find something that was relatively peaceful for all of us to do together. There are lots of photo opportunities when you're with the butterflies, so bring the camera. The movie shown at the beginning of the tour was really well done also. It is a bit spendy, but a military discount is available.
Went with my adult daughter on a nasty weather day. The movie explaining the migration of Monarchs spurred interest in learning more and who doesn't love 3D? The Emergence Room was fascinating with all the cocoons and chrysalis. Serene atrium to enjoy the butterflies.

Places to sit, running water with a large Koi Pond. Some large aquarium tanks, with a full aquarium set to open summer Very nice for all ages. Tons of butterfly's , well done! Easy to get to and very relaxing also. We would go back to this attraction. Visited here in January while on a business trip to Phoenix.

My daughter really enjoyed it. The many different species of butterflies in one place is amazing. I would definitely recommend it and will visit there again when I return to Phoenix. The butterfly movie, the room with cocoons and chrysalis and the room filled with butterflies were spectacular. The ants and bees were disappointing, the bees were as expected but the antfarm was, well, I expected to see ants!!! The stingray tank and fish were unexpected treats.

Review of Butterfly Wonderland. Date of experience: December My oldest did NOT like it. She started crying and absolutely freaking out that they were all over me. I was dying! It was hilarious how worried she was. The butterflies themselves and the set up inside was beautiful. It is amazing how many different types of butterflies there are. You would never really think that there are an endless amount of colors, sizes, varieties… it was amazing to see.

There was a really neat area that they had food where the butterflies could feed. It was just a large bowl, almost like bird bath, and there were tons of butterflies in it and all around that area. They are also building a gigantic aquarium next door, which I think will be a great addition.
They had a few tanks and some sting rays that you could pet in another area, which my girls really enjoyed. Our 2-year-old has no fear at all! She was trying to just swim with the sting rays I think. The negative sides to this place that I found, aside from my ridiculous fear of bugs, was that it is extremely humid inside there. I understand that they have to do this for the sake of the butterflies, but it is sticky.
I can usually deal with humidity, but I feel like there should be some type of warning or something on that sight so that you dress appropriately. The other not so great thing is the cost.
